Nipiu Energy Inc. is proudly owned and operated by members of the Ilnu First Nation of Mashteuiatsh, one of the oldest Indigenous communities in Quebec.

The Chamouchouane Zone Project
The development of the Chamouchouane Zone wind project is the result of a partnership between two First Nations—the Pekuakamiulnuatsh and the Atikamekw—the Domaine du Roy RCM, and Hydro-Québec. The revenue generated by electricity production will therefore be shared among these four partners for the benefit of all.
With a projected capacity of up to 3,000 MW, the Chamouchouane Zone project represents one of the largest wind energy developments in Quebec and Canada. Over the next 10 years, between 400 and 600 wind turbines could be built on Nitassinan territory.
The development of this renewable energy project will create hundreds of jobs during construction and provide long-term careers in wind turbine operation and maintenance. For the youth and the Innu community of Mashteuiatsh, this project represents an exceptional opportunity to develop skills, start businesses, increase community income, and build a stronger economy for future generations.
